Dr. Spencer was an elementary school drop-out, at the age of 9 he became a gang leader in Oakland, CA. Huey Newton and Angela Davis recruited Greg to join the Black Panthers at the age of 12. With help from caring people, Greg went on to college and served as a teacher in L.A. Unified. Spencer moved on to other districts and served as a principal, elected City Commissioner, and School Board President. Greg retired as a Superintendent.

Dr. Spencer was a featured speaker at the 2025 World Economic Forum in Switzerland and spoke on The Impact of AI in Education. Dr. Spencer is a two-time international best-selling author and was selected as a national recipient of the 2025 Top Doctor Award by Castle Connolly for his work as a Traumnesia Expert.

Greg created a $120MM Bilingual Literacy Equity In-Kind Grant to partner with transformative CALSA Superintendents and others that seek to provide a pre-emptive strike against illiteracy and math issues by providing access to families and children BEFORE they start school, ensuring kindergarten readiness.

Footsteps2Brilliance is a White House recognized and transformative Birth & Pre-K / elementary school bilingual literacy and math solution that utilizes gamified and mobile technology to connect school, home, and the community for academic success, especially for black, brown, and underserved communities.

Footsteps' innovative Mobile Technology Platform allows comprehensive literacy apps to be accessed online or offline from any mobile device (Apple or Android) or traditional computer. This enables school districts, for the first time ever, to leverage the mobile devices that parents already own to create Model Innovation Cities.

The Footsteps2Brilliance® Model Innovation City™ license creates a turnkey, citywide literacy solution. It allows school districts and the cities that they support to cost effectively scale award winning Birth/Pre-K through 3rd grade literacy curriculum to every family within their jurisdiction, without spending additional monies on hardware, infrastructure, or maintenance. It also empowers parents with the tools they need to be able to share responsibility for their children’s academic success.
