Mary Beal serves as the Director of Leadership Development and Accountability for Alisal Union School District, where she supports twelve school sites in building leadership capacity, advancing instructional practices, and fostering a data-driven culture. With over 20 years of experience in education, including six years as principal of Herbert Green Middle School—recognized as a California Distinguished School under her leadership—Mary brings deep expertise in curriculum and instruction, assessment systems, and organizational leadership.Her work focuses on developing strong school leaders through coaching, professional learning, and collaborative systems that empower principals and assistant principals to lead with clarity, equity, and impact. Mary has led district-level initiatives in curriculum adoption, data-informed decision-making, and instructional leadership, always centering student success and equity at the heart of her practice.A passionate advocate for public education, Mary is committed to ensuring all students, especially multilingual learners, thrive academically and socially. She brings to CALSA a wealth of practical strategies and insights for advancing leadership development and closing opportunity gaps.
