About me
Dr. Selena Barajas-Ledesma has over 20 years of experience supporting the students and families of Los Angeles County. She started her career in public service at the Department of Public Social Services and supporting families experiencing homelessness in the community of Boyle Heights at L.A. Family Housing. She has earned multiple degrees including an MSW from the University of Southern California and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University, Los Angeles. Selena has spent the last 15 years applying her social work education and expertise serving in various roles in the Los Angeles Unified School District. She has led the development and implementation of key district programs including the YouthSource System and Family Source System Partnership with the City of Los Angeles, the College Empowerment Program and the expansion of the A-G Diploma Program that placed a PSA Counselor in every high school in the district. She is an expert in supporting out of school youth and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations. Most recently, Selena has supported the development and implementation of the Community Schools framework in 15 districts across Los Angeles County. She currently provides administrative oversight of the Greater Los Angeles Tranformational Assistance Center that support over 500 grantees of the California Community Schools Partnership Program. Selena also loves going to concerts and spending time with husband and 18-year-old son, Matthew.
