About me
Sylvia Perez is a dedicated Community School Coordinator serving the Alisal Union School District, where she works to build meaningful bridges between schools, families, and the broader community. As a mother of four, Sylvia brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work, grounding her approach in authenticity, trust, and a deep commitment to connection.Sylvia is passionate about engaging families, students, and community partners in ways that are genuine and culturally responsive. She believes that strong relationships are the foundation for student success and works intentionally to create opportunities for connection both in and beyond the school day—ensuring that families feel seen, valued, and empowered as partners in their children’s education. Her work focuses on enhancing the academic and social-emotional success of all students by aligning resources, fostering collaboration, and elevating the voices of those most impacted. Through the Community Schools model, Sylvia supports systems that integrate wellness, learning, and community engagement into a unified approach.Prior to her role in education, Sylvia served for 16 years as an Executive Director in the field of restorative justice. During that time, she worked closely with youth and families navigating complex challenges. It was through this experience—seeing too many young people pass through her doors—that she felt called to transition into schools. Sylvia recognized the critical need to intervene earlier, build stronger support systems, and create environments where students can thrive before reaching crisis points.Today, Sylvia continues to lead with purpose, compassion, and a vision for schools as hubs of connection, healing, and opportunity for every child and family.
