Dr. Zandra Jo Galván is a respected bilingual Superintendent with over 30 years of service as an educator, leader, and innovator in California public education. A proud Central Coast native, she earned an A.A. from Hartnell College, a B.A. and teaching credential from CSU Fresno, master’s degrees from CSU Monterey Bay and San José State University, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Southern California.Dr. Galván has led transformative work across California—especially on the Central Coast—bringing deep expertise in governance, systems leadership, community engagement, and positive culture. Her career spans teaching, coaching, administration, and nearly a decade as superintendent, advancing student learning, strengthening systems, and building thriving school communities.Nationally recognized for her mentorship and thought leadership, she advises AASA and ALAS superintendent academies and collaborates with networks including Digital Promise, Future Ready Schools, and the League of Innovative Schools. As Superintendent of Salinas Union High School District and former Superintendent of Greenfield Union School District, she has led strategic planning, learner-centered frameworks, student advisory councils, and operational excellence.Her honors include National ALAS Superintendent of the Year (2023), Regional CALSA Superintendent of the Year (2022), District Administration Woman of Distinction (2024), and recognition among the Top 100 National Educational Influencers (2025). Her leadership reflects an unwavering commitment to equity, innovation, and student success—empowering young people to discover their voice and elevating student leadership on local, state, and national stages so they can shape a more just and thriving future.
